HOUSTON, TX – University of St. Thomas sophomore Armando Rocha has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Tuesday, March 31 through Sunday, April 5.
The Jersey Village, Texas native turned in a dominant performance on the mound, tossing 7.0 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits. Rocha struck out 10 batters and walked only two, controlling the game from start to finish.
He finished the outing with a 0.00 ERA, a 0.57 WHIP, and held opposing hitters to a .083 batting average. The 10 strikeouts mark a career-high for the sophomore and highlight his continued growth on the mound.
Rocha now leads the SCAC with 55 strikeouts on the season, and his standout performance played a key role in the Celts' success while earning him conference weekly honors.
