Sugar Land, TX – St. Thomas' baseball team built an early lead and held off a late surge before securing a dramatic 8–7 walk-off victory over LeTourneau, improving to 11–18 overall and 10-12 in conference on the season.
The Celts broke through in the fourth inning when Rey Izaguirre hit an RBI single to center field driving in Ryan Ratajczak, giving St. Thomas a 1–0 lead. They added another run in the fifth as Eduardo Tamez hit an RBI double to left field scoring Zach Cline, extending the advantage to 2–0.
St. Thomas created separation in the sixth inning with a five-run outburst. Sam Lampson delivered a two run RBI single scoring Izaguirre and Ratajczak before Cline followed with an RBI double. Moments later, Chris Johnson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in another run, pushing the lead to 6–0.
The Celts continued to add on in the seventh as Tamez hit an RBI single to score Izaguirre, giving St. Thomas a 7–0 cushion.
LeTourneau mounted a dramatic comeback in the late innings, scoring five runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth to tie the game at 7–7.
Despite the momentum shift, the Celts responded in the bottom of the ninth. Lampson came through with a clutch single to center field, driving in Ratajczak to seal the 8–7 walk-off victory.

St. Thomas will look to build on the momentum as the Celts continue their series against LeTourneau at Constellation Field. The Celts double header against LeTourneau is slated for Friday, April 3, with first pitch scheduled for 1PM and the last game in the series is scheduled to begin at 4PM.
