SUGARLAND, TX - The St. Thomas baseball team overcame an early deficit with timely hitting and strong middle innings to defeat Trinity (Tex.) 7–4, improving to 13-19 overall on the season. The Celts showed resilience throughout the game, responding to early pressure and capitalizing on key opportunities to secure the win.
Trinity struck first in the opening inning with a two run RBI single to take a 2–0 lead, but the Celts responded immediately. Justin Ogle hit an RBI double to left field scoring Rey Izaguirre, cutting the deficit to 2–1.
After Trinity added a run in the second to extend its lead, St. Thomas answered with a three-run inning to take control. The Celts capitalized on an error to bring in a run before Sam Lampson stole home to tie the game. Moments later, Tyler Mills delivered an RBI single to give St. Thomas a 4–3 advantage.
Trinity evened the score in the third inning, but the Celts regained momentum in the sixth. Ogle came through again with an RBI single to score Izaguirre, and Chris Johnson followed with another RBI single to bring home Gage Kimble, putting St. Thomas ahead 6–4.
The Celts added an extra run in the eighth inning when Zach Cline scored on a wild pitch, extending the lead to 7–4.
St. Thomas' pitching and defense closed the door from there, holding Trinity scoreless over the final innings to secure the victory.
