Victoria, TX – The St. Thomas baseball team faced a tough outing, falling 12–0 to Texas A&M–Victoria in exhibition action. The Celts were unable to recover from an early deficit as the Jaguars steadily added to their lead throughout the game.

A&M–Victoria jumped out to an early lead in the first inning with a sacrifice fly and a solo home run to take a 2–0 advantage. The Jaguars continued to build momentum in the second inning adding two more runs on a single to extend the lead to 4–0.

St. Thomas looked to settle in defensively, but A&M–Victoria added another run in the third and two more in the fourth, capitalizing on opportunities to stretch the lead to 7–0.

The Jaguars broke the game open in the sixth inning, scoring five runs—taking advantage of hits and defensive miscues—to push the margin to 12–0.

The Celts were unable to generate offensive momentum, as A&M–Victoria's pitchers kept St. Thomas off the scoreboard throughout the exhibition contest.

St. Thomas will look to bounce back as the Celts return to action against Trinity University at Constellation field.  Their next game is scheduled to be played on Tuesday, April 14 at 6PM.
