Box Score MARSHALL, TX– St. Thomas' baseball team dropped a 13–3 result to East Texas Baptist on Tuesday night, moving to 8-13 overall on the season. The Celts faced an early deficit and were unable to recover despite flashes of offense throughout the game.
East Texas Baptist jumped out to a quick start in the first inning, plating four runs on a series of hits and a sacrifice fly to take an early 4–0 lead. The Tigers added another run in the third inning on a solo home run to extend the advantage to 5–0.
St. Thomas got on the board in the fourth inning when Gage Kimble hit an RBI double down the left-field line to score Tyler Mills, cutting the deficit to 5–1.
East Texas Baptist responded with two runs in the bottom of the fourth before breaking the game open in the fifth inning, scoring five runs to extend the lead to 12–2.
The Celts showed resilience at the plate, adding a run in the fifth inning on a solo home run from Gabe Garner and another in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Joseph Sanchez to bring the score to 12–3.
East Texas Baptist added one final run in the eighth inning to secure the 13–3 victory.
