HOUSTON – UST Women's Basketball team is back in action as they prepare for the 2025–26 season, led by Head Coach El in her third year at the helm. In just two seasons, El has turned the program around, earning Coach and Staff of the Year honors for the 2024–25 season. With returning experience and new talent, the Celts are ready to keep building on their recent success.
"We look forward to competing against great competition in non-conference play to prepare us for a successful conference season," said El.
Looking into the Season
The Celts' 2025–26 schedule includes 27 total games, featuring two early exhibition matchups against Division I opponents.
UST opens the season at home on November 8 at 1 p.m. against Texas A&M International University (TAMIU). The game will also be part of the University's Homecoming festivities, adding extra excitement to the start of the season.
After the opener, the Celts hit the road for an exhibition at UIW before heading to Walla Walla, Washington, for a tournament where they will face Whitman College and Whitworth University.
UST returns to Houston on November 28 to take on the University of Pennsylvania in an exhibition game, then hosts East Texas Baptist University the next day on November 29.
In December, the Celts begin conference play on the road in Colorado before returning home for two non-conference matchups—against Huston-Tillotson on December 20 and Manchester University on December 28.
The new year brings more action on the road with games at East Texas Baptist and Mary Hardin-Baylor in January, followed by a stretch of conference play to close out the regular season.
Roster Breakdown & Leadership
This year's team brings a strong mix of experience and depth. The Celts add two freshmen and four transfers, while the rest of the roster consists of returning players who know the system and culture well. The incoming transfers bring valuable experience and leadership that should fit seamlessly into the program.
UST also returns several key players, including All-SCAC Third Team selection Amyia Bowie, along with honorable mention honorees Audrey Hernandez, Kenna Gibson, and Macie Witfeld. Their leadership will be important as the Celts look to take another step forward this season.
