WALLA WALLA, Wash. — The University of St. Thomas women's basketball team delivered a strong road performance, taking down Whitman College to win 62-49 tonight at 7pm. With the win, the Celts even their record at 1-1, continuing to progress as the season unfolds.
St. Thomas opened the game with confidence, setting the tone early on both ends of the floor. Their defensive pressure and efficient scoring by Kenna Gibson and Amyia Bowie helped them build momentum, carrying a solid lead into the half as Whitman tried their best to close the gap bringing the second quarter to 30–27.
Out of the break, UST continued to assert themselves, extending their advantage with Gibson knocking down timely shots, and Laura Jones providing consistent scoring in the midrange to extend the lead. In the final stretch, St.Thomas maintained full control, sealing the 62-49 victory against Whitman College.
Leading the Celts was Kenna Gibson, who poured in 14 points while knocking down two three-pointers and grabbing five rebounds. Laura Jones also stepped up with an efficient 11 points, contributing key baskets that helped St.Thomas maintain their rhythm throughout the evening.
