HOUSTON – Former Celts point guard Zack Golaszewski has returned to the University of St. Thomas. He joins as Assistant Coach for the men's basketball team and as player development coach for the women's basketball team.
A native of The Woodlands, Texas, Golaszewski played at The Woodlands Christian Academy before choosing St. Thomas for its strong academics and closeness to home. The 6-foot guard wore No. 13 for the Celts from 2019-20 through 2022-23, growing from a freshman learning the college game into a senior leader in the backcourt. His role expanded along the way and he received an All-Conference award.
Golaszewski earned a Bachelor's degree in General Business from UST. He then worked as an Operations Supervisor at a scrap recycling facility, where he led teams and managed daily operations. That work sharpened the skills that define good coaching: leadership, communication, organization, and accountability.
Now back on campus, Golaszewski splits his time between both basketball programs. With the men's team, he focuses on player and skill development, practice planning, and helping student-athletes grow on and off the court. With the women's team, he works as a player development coach, helping players refine their skills and build confidence.
Golaszewski lived the daily life of a Celts student-athlete himself, so he understands firsthand what current players face. His playing career at St. Thomas and his professional leadership experience give him a well-rounded perspective on athlete development and the demands of college basketball. That perspective benefits both programs.
