HOUSTON – St. Thomas Men's Basketball returns for the 2026–27 season under head coach Anthony Medina, who was named the 2026 NABC Division III National Coach of the Year after leading the Celts to a 29-2 record and an NCAA DIII Elite Eight appearance.
Looking into the Season
UST opens the season on the road with an exhibition at St. Edward's University on November 7. The Celts stay on the road for Hardin-Simmons (Nov. 14), Trinity University (Nov. 21), and Schreiner (Nov. 22), then continue with non-conference games at McMurry (Dec. 1) and Mary Hardin-Baylor (Dec. 5) before starting SCAC play at Hendrix (Dec. 11) and Ozarks (Dec. 12).
UST plays its first home game of the season on December 18, hosting Centenary, followed by LeTourneau on December 20. The Celts then travel to Michigan to play Kalamazoo College (Dec. 29) and Hope College (Dec. 30). SCAC play continues in January and February with home-and-away games against Colorado College, Concordia Texas, Texas Lutheran, Austin College, University of Dallas, Hendrix, and Ozarks. The Celts close the regular season and head to the SCAC Conference Tournament beginning February 26.
Roster Breakdown
Medina brings in a class of transfers and freshmen to go with a group of returners this season. Leading the newcomers is senior guard Corey Thompson, Jaden Ross, Garrett Rodgers, and Luke Coughran along with a group of local freshmen and returners including Nathan Kongolo, Omar Gayle, Nicholas Buffalo, J.P. Olivarez, Danny Canul, Charles Gitonga, Maksat Hojaberdiyev, and Dyllan Baker. With that mix of experience and new pieces, UST looks to build on last season's Elite Eight run and re-enter the national conversation.
