FORT WORTH, Texas – The University of St. Thomas women's golf team opened play at the SCAC Championships with a strong first round, sitting in second place after posting a team score of +37 at Hawks Creek Golf Club.

Leah Torres set the tone for the Celts, leading the entire field after round one with an impressive +3. Her steady play throughout the day positioned her atop the leaderboard and gave St. Thomas early momentum in the championship field.
Cameron Frazier followed with a solid showing, finishing tied for sixth at +6 to keep the Celts firmly in contention. Regina Garcia Perez added another key score for St. Thomas, carding a +11 to finish tied for 14th.
Emma Koch and Josefina Demonti rounded out the lineup, each finishing the opening round at +17 and tied for 30th. Their efforts helped secure the Celts' position near the top of the team standings heading into day two.
With multiple players inside the top 15 and Torres leading the way, St. Thomas maintained its poise and put together a competitive opening round against a strong SCAC field.
