LAKE CHARLES, LA – The University of St. Thomas track and field teams opened their outdoor season with a strong showing at the McNeese Cowboy Relays in Lake Charles, Louisiana, highlighted by a first-place finish, multiple podium performances, and a pair of school records.

The Celts wasted little time making their mark in the first outdoor meet of the year, as several athletes turned in nationally competitive times while continuing to build momentum heading into the heart of the spring season.
On the women's side, Quadetra Wilburn delivered one of the top performances of the meet in the 100 meters. Wilburn sprinted to a second-place finish with a time of 12.08, a mark that currently ranks second nationally in Division III early in the outdoor campaign.
Keyanna Brown added a victory for the Celts in distance competition, capturing first place in the 3000 meters with a time of 11:00.63 to lead the St. Thomas women.
The women's sprint medley relay team of Christalyn Dorsey, Madison Walker, Eslie Ngoran, and Elyssa Rodarte also reached the podium. The quartet combined for a time of 4:23.43 to finish second overall.
On the men's side, the Celts recorded several standout performances, including a first-place finish in the sprint medley relay. Jason Crampton, Adrian Thomas, Terrence Jackson, and Juan Silva teamed up to post a winning time of 3:37.40.
Crampton also competed individually in the 100 meters, finishing fifth with a time of 10.97. The mark stands as the second-best time in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference this season.
Distance runner Mason McFeeters added another strong result for St. Thomas, placing second in the 2000-meter steeplechase with a time of 6:40.41.
The Celts also saw a pair of school records fall during the meet. Josh set a new program mark in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.45, finishing third in the event while ranking 21st nationally. In relay action, the men's 4x800-meter relay team of JC, Eli, Ozzie, and Diego clocked a school-record time of 8:11.78 to place third.
Cam Grimaldo contributed another solid performance in the hurdles, finishing fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.35, which currently ranks seventh in the nation.
