HOUSTON, TX-- St. Thomas track and field teams opened competition at the Robert Platt Invite on Friday at Yeomen Fieldhouse, hosted by the University of Houston. Day 1 featured a mix of sprint, hurdle, and distance events as the Celts faced strong competition.

On the men's side, Cam Grimaldo represented the Celts in the 60-meter hurdles and advanced to the semifinals with a time of 8.66, finishing 19th overall.
The women's sprinters made an impact in the 60 meters, led by Quadetra Wilburn, who recorded the top time for the Celts at 7.90. Trinity Provost followed closely behind with a time of 7.91. First-year sprinter Christalyn Dorsey continued her strong indoor season, posting a new personal best of 8.00 to move into third place on the program's all-time list.
In the women's mile, Elyssa Rodarte set a new school record with a time of 5:29.97. First-year runner Keyanna Brown also went under the previous school record, crossing the line in 5:31.25 in a standout performance.
The men's mile saw Elijah Emerson post a strong effort, finishing seventh overall with a time of 4:24.27, just one second shy of the program record.
