D3 Hoops MBB All Region Awards

HOUSTON, Texas — The University of St. Thomas men's basketball program earned major recognition on the D3hoops.com All-Region Teams, highlighted by head coach Anthony Medina being named Region Coach of the Year and two Celts landing on the All-Region squads.

Medina earned the honor after leading St. Thomas through another historic season, guiding the Celts to one of the best records in program history and a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. Under his leadership, UST continued to establish itself as one of the premier programs in the region, combining a high-powered offense with disciplined defense throughout the season.

On the court, senior guard Angel Johnson was named to the D3hoops.com All-Region First Team. The Houston native played a pivotal role in the Celts' success this season, consistently delivering strong performances as a leader in the backcourt. Johnson's ability to control the tempo, score in key moments, and elevate his teammates made him one of the most impactful guards in the region.

Joining him on the All-Region list was junior guard Corey Thompson, who earned Second Team honors. Thompson was another key contributor for the Celts, providing consistent scoring and energy throughout the season. His versatility on both ends of the floor helped St. Thomas remain competitive against top opponents and maintain momentum during their postseason run.

The honors place multiple Celts among the top players in the region and reflect the continued rise of the St. Thomas men's basketball program. With Medina at the helm and standout performances from players like Johnson and Thompson, the Celts have firmly positioned themselves as a force in Division III basketball.
