HOUSTON, Texas – March Madness continues in Houston as the No. 3-ranked University of St. Thomas men's basketball team prepares for a highly anticipated Sweet 16 matchup against No. 14 Washington University in St. Louis in the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament.

The Celts enter the contest with a remarkable 28–1 record and will host the Bears on Friday night inside the Jerabeck Activity and Athletic Center (JAAC). With a trip to the Elite 8 on the line, the matchup also presents St. Thomas with a chance to avenge its only loss of the season.

Earlier this year, the two teams met in a thriller during the 41st Annual Lopata Classic in St. Louis. The game quickly developed into one of the most intense battles of the season.

WashU jumped out to an early lead, but St. Thomas responded with poise and determination, battling back and eventually taking control midway through the game. The Celts built momentum and pushed their advantage into double digits in the second half, appearing poised to close out a statement road win.

But as the clock wound down, the Bears mounted a late comeback, slowly chipping away at the St. Thomas lead and setting up a dramatic finish buzzer beater finish.

Since that night, the Celts have turned that narrow defeat into fuel, storming through the remainder of the season to reach the Sweet 16 while climbing to No. 3 in the national rankings.

Now the two teams meet again—this time with even more on the line.

St. Thomas will host Sweet 16 action at the newly renovated JAAC on Friday, March 13 at 7:00 p.m. A sellout crowd is expected as the Celts look to defend their home court and continue their historic postseason run. The first 200 fans in attendance will receive a free t-shirt, so fans are encouraged to arrive early.

With revenge on the line and a trip to the Elite 8 within reach, the stage is set for another unforgettable showdown.

Fans may park in the Moran Garage (parking fee applies). Parking tokens are available for $10 at the concession stand. Street parking is also available nearby. Plan ahead and arrive early to secure your spot.
