HOUSTON-History has been made for the University of St. Thomas Track & Field program. Matthew Hicks has officially qualified for the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, becoming the first Celt in program history to earn a spot at nationals.
Hicks, who competes in the high jump, secured his place among the nation's best after clearing 2.07 meters at the Trinity Last Chance Meet on May 11. His mark currently ranks him 8th in the country heading into championship weekend.
The NCAA announced official qualifiers on May 16, and Hicks will now compete at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, where the championships will take place May 22–24. The high jump event is scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
"We are excited to see Matthew compete at the NCAA Championship," said Head Coach Jarrick Wright. "He's been working hard for this moment and is ready to represent UST this Friday."
