Celts Release Inaugural Women's Soccer Schedule

University of St. Thomas Women's Soccer team has released their 2014 season schedule. In their first year season Celts will play 12 regular home games and will also host Red River Athletic Conference Tournament in mid-November. All home games will be played at Houston Sports Park, top-level multi field sports facility, which also serves as permanent training ground for Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash professional teams.

UST will have two scrimmages in early August, both on the road. First opponent will be Challenge Soccer Club ECNL team on August 16 at Burroughs Park (Tomball, TX), followed week later by Concordia University (Austin, TX). Celts will face Concordia University again in regular season game at home on September 19th.

First official match for the women's soccer team will kick off on Friday, August 29th at 6pm when Celts host Prairie View A&M University (NCAA I). This historic match will also be first ever home game for the University of St. Thomas Women's Soccer Program.

Before conference play UST will also host Howard Payne University and Southwest Assemblies of God University in early September, followed by September 11th Memorial Tournament when Celts will be hosting University of Texas at Brownsville and St. Gregory's University. Other non-conference opponents Celts will face this season are Texas A&M University – Texarkana, Dallas Christian College, and University of Houston – Victoria. UHV will become a full member of the Red River Athletic Conference in 2015.

Celts will start conference play at home on October 2nd and will host Louisiana State University – Alexandria, new member of the RRAC and also a brand new program, followed by Wiley College October 4th at 1pm. Two more conference opponents that will travel to Houston are Bacone College on October 16th and Texas College on October 18th. This weekend is designated as Parents Weekend, with last conference home game against Texas College also serving as Senior Day honoring graduating seniors.

Celts will travel to Austin October 23rd to play Huston-Tillotson University, and week later get on the road again to play their last two regular season games against finalists from last year's conference tournament. This road trip will provide very tough competition, with first stop in Austin playing against last year's champions Our Lady of the Lake University September 30th, continuing the trip to Brownsville, TX to take on perennial RRAC Powerhouse University of Texas at Brownsville on November 1st.
