"I am truly grateful and excited that Coach Todd Smith and the University of St. Thomas have given me the opportunity to become the head women's soccer coach," Day said. "I'm looking forward to building on the success the program achieved last season and continuing to move it in a positive direction. My goal is to create a culture built on hard work, family, and competitive excellence as we begin this next chapter together. I'm excited to start my collegiate head coaching career and help our student-athletes succeed both on and off the field."

About Coach Day

Nathan Day brings more than 20 years of coaching experience and a proven track record of developing successful programs at every level of the game. A graduate of MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL,  he earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Day began his collegiate coaching career at Utica University before returning to Houston and establishing himself as one of the region's most respected coaches and goalkeeper trainers.

Over the past two decades, Day has made a tremendous impact throughout the Houston soccer community. He has coached with some of the area's top club organizations, including Fusion Soccer Club, Eclipse Soccer Club, Houston Dynamo FC Academy, Imperial Soccer Club, and TTI Soccer Club.

At the high school level, Day built Cypress Woods High School's girls soccer program from the ground up, leading the Wildcats to an undefeated district championship in their inaugural season. He later guided both the Cypress Woods boys program and Lawrence E. Elkins High School girls program while helping numerous student-athletes advance to the collegiate level.

A lifelong student of the game, Day holds the United States Soccer Federation "A," "B," and "C" Licenses, along with the National Youth License and the United Soccer Coaches National Goalkeeper License.

Nathan and his wife, Callie, have been married for 20 years and are proud parents of four children.

"Our women's soccer program took a major step forward last season, and we are excited to see what this team can accomplish this fall," said UST Director of Athletics Todd Smith. "The talent and commitment within the program provide a strong foundation to build upon the success of the 2025 season. As we moved through this search process, it was important for us to identify a knowledgeable leader with proven experience who could continue developing our student-athletes both in training and in competition. Coach Nathan Day is the right person to lead our program forward and continue its upward trajectory. We are thrilled to welcome Coach Day to the Celt Athletic Family and look forward to the future of UST Women's Soccer under his leadership."
