ABILENE, Texas – The University of St. Thomas track and field team opened competition at the SCAC Championships with a historic performance on Day One in Abilene, Texas.
Leading the way for the Celts, Jakayla Ray delivered a milestone moment for the program in the women's long jump. Ray recorded a mark of 5.28 meters to earn a third-place finish, setting a new school record in the event.
With her podium finish, Ray becomes the first female Celt in program history to medal in a field event at the SCAC Championships, marking a significant step forward for St. Thomas track and field.
The record-breaking jump highlights continued growth for the Celts as they compete against the conference's best on one of the season's biggest stages.
