HOUSTON, TX – University of St. Thomas sophomore Leah Torres has been named the SCAC Women's Golfer of the Week for competition played from Monday, March 9 through Tuesday, March 10.

The Kingwood, Texas native captured medalist honors at the Space City Classic after posting rounds of 80 and 77 to finish with a two-round total of 157 (+15). The event was hosted by St. Thomas and contested at Gus Wortham Park Golf Course in Houston.

Torres edged Hardin-Simmons' Shay West by a single stroke to claim the individual title and help guide the Celts to a fourth-place finish in the tournament standings.

Her steady play throughout the event secured the top individual finish and earned Torres conference weekly recognition for her standout performance on the home course.
