KELSEY ELGAR OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS,
a junior on the women's swimming team from Beaumont, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning February 2.
The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.
Kelsey continues to make a meaningful impact at the University of St. Thomas as both a student-athlete and campus leader. A junior from Beaumont, Texas, Kelsey is a member of the Celts' Swimming program and exemplifies the values of the SCAC Character & Community initiative through her leadership, service, and involvement.
In addition to competing in the pool, Kelsey is an active member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), where she represents the voice of Division III student-athletes. Through SAAC, she helps review legislation, identify key student-athlete issues, and support initiatives that promote student-athlete welfare. The committee also emphasizes community outreach and encourages involvement across campus.
At the University of St. Thomas, SAAC serves as a vital connection between student-athletes and university leadership, working in alignment with NCAA and SCAC guidelines. Kelsey's role within the committee reflects her commitment to enhancing the overall student-athlete experience while fostering a positive and supportive athletic environment.
