SHERMAN, TX- The University of St. Thomas swimming team returned to competition this weekend, traveling to Sherman, TX to face Austin College after an extended break from racing. This meet marked an important step in getting back into race mode, as the Celts delivered a solid performance and showed encouraging signs of improvement as they move into the next phase of the season.

Despite the time away from racing, UST looked fit and prepared in the water, racing with confidence and purpose. The meet served as a valuable opportunity for the team to shake off rust, refocus, and begin priming for upcoming competitions.

Lucas Blado led the way with a strong all-around performance, earning a win in the 100 Butterfly while also turning in quality swims in both the 100 and 500 Freestyle. Chase Starcich continued his consistency, capturing victories in the 200 and 100 Freestyle while swimming right at his personal bests in both events. He also added an impressive swim in the 50 Breaststroke to round out his day.

On the women's side, AJ Kennell once again showed her competitive spirit, bringing energy to every race and stepping up for the team whenever she hit the blocks. Alison Voisin made a notable debut in the 500 Freestyle, swimming the event for the first time and showing a natural ability in the longer distance with a strong performance. Kelsy Elgar contributed across multiple events, posting strong swims in the 50 Freestyle and 100 IM while also delivering impactful relay legs. Her willingness to race hard, even when fatigued, highlighted her team-first mentality.

The teams leave Sherman encouraged by their return to competition and ready to continue building momentum as they head into these next few weeks to prepare for their next meet.
