Garland, TX- The University of St. Thomas men's and women's swimming teams continued their strong showing on Day Three of the SCAC Swimming & Diving Championships in Garland, Texas. As the Celts push deeper into championship competition, they continue to deliver breakthrough performances and make their presence known among conference opponents.
It was a historic night for the program. St. Thomas recorded 25 swims in finals, with 23 of those swims scoring valuable team points. An even more impressive outcome for the Celts, every single member of the team earned a second swim and finished in the top 16 or better! This marks the first time in program history that the entire team has returned for finals on the same night, being an accomplishment that reflects the depth, preparation, and unity of this group.
One of the most memorable moments of the evening came from Ava, who made the first women's A final in program history and went on to place fifth in the 400 IM. It was a milestone performance and a special moment for the program, highlighting both her hard work and the continued up bringing of St. Thomas swimming on the women's side.
Overall, it was a strong day of competition for the Celts. While the team faced a small setback in the relays during the evening session, they quickly regrouped, refocused, and responded with composure. The ability to move forward and stay locked in continues to demonstrate the team's growth in a championship setting.
With Day Four ahead and fatigue is setting in—the focus shifts to mental sharpness and finishing what they started. The Celts look determined to close out the championships the right way and continue building on a historic week in Garland.
