Historic Finish Caps Off Record Week for Celts at SCAC Championships

GARLAND, TX – St. Thomas closed out the SCAC Swimming & Diving Championships with one of its strongest sessions of the meet, recording 18 finals swims and six school records on the final night. The Celts delivered a statement finish, highlighted by the program's first individual event champion and a runner-up team finish on the men's side.

The evening began with the 200 back, where Kelsy secured a 10th-place finish and Jackson raced to fifth overall. Both swims were steady and well executed, as they controlled their races and finished strong against a competitive field.

In the 100 free, AJ delivered a breakthrough performance, dropping a personal best and breaking the 1:00 barrier for the first time in her career. Emely followed with a strong finals swim, providing a fitting close to her collegiate career. On the men's side, Oliver and TaylorLee posted lifetime bests in the B final, setting the tone early. In the A final, Ben finished sixth, Tanner seventh, and Charles eighth, as the trio held their own and competed well in a fast championship heat.

The 200 breast proved to be another productive event for the Celts. Ava placed eighth with a solid swim, while Austin captured ninth with a lifetime best performance. Chase capped the event with a sixth-place finish, recording a lifetime best and a new team record in the process.

The 200 fly delivered one of the biggest moments of the meet. Valentina finished 10th while setting a new program record on the women's side. In the men's race, Levi surged to victory, becoming the first individual event champion in program history with a team-record swim. Oscar followed in fourth and Luke in fifth, making it a dominant showing for the Celts. Levi's win marked a defining milestone for the program and underscored the progress made throughout the season.

The championships concluded with the 400 free relays. The women's relay team of Kelsy, Ava, AJ, and Valentina finished sixth while breaking the program record by five seconds. The men's B relay added a 10th-place finish with a strong collective effort. In the final race of the meet, the men's A relay team of Oliver, Charles, Tanner, and Ben delivered a thrilling performance, breaking another school record and charging from behind to secure a second-place finish. It was a fitting and energetic end to the week.

Team Results
The women finished seventh overall, scoring nearly 130 more points than a year ago in a true team effort where every swimmer contributed.

The men placed runner-up, an impressive jump from eighth place last season to second this year — a testament to the work and commitment of the group.

Head coach Hanna Huston was named Men's Coaching Staff of the Year, an honor that reflects both the athletes' performances and the culture being built within the program.

With a historic week in the books, the Celts close the 2025-2026 season with momentum, confidence, and milestones that signal the continued rise of the program.
