GARLAND, TX – St. Thomas opened the SCAC Swimming & Diving Championships with a strong and confident showing on Day 1, turning in multiple record-breaking performances and earning the program's first-ever relay medal.
The women's 200 Medley Relay team of Kelsy, Ava, Emely, and AJ set the tone on the women's side with a historic performance. The quartet clocked a 1:58.72 to break the school record and secure a fourth-place finish overall. From the opening backstroke leg to the freestyle anchor, the group raced with control and confidence, delivering one of the strongest swims in program history.
On the men's side, the B 200 Medley Relay team of Jackson, Chase, TaylorLee, and Luke got things rolling early. The group finished second in their heat, executing exactly what was needed to put valuable points on the board and establish momentum for the evening.
That momentum carried straight into the A 200 Medley Relay, where the Celts delivered a milestone performance. The team surged to a second-place overall finish in 1:33.23, breaking the school record and earning the first relay medal in program history. It was a statement swim and a defining moment for the program on the conference stage.
The men's 800 Free Relay A team continued the record-breaking trend later in the session. The foursome posted a 6:57.22, shattering another team record and claiming second place overall. The race was a gritty, competitive effort from start to finish, as the Celts stayed composed and matched the intensity of the field to secure another podium finish.
