SAN ANTONIO, TX — The University of St. Thomas wrapped up a long and eventful weekend at the Tiger Invitational with one of their strongest collective performances of the season. Despite several athletes battling sickness, the Celts delivered a gritty final session full of second swims, breakout races, and program-defining moments. Day 3 proved to be a historic one for UST, highlighted by multiple school records and top-conference swims.
Leading the way,
Chase Starcich reset the program record in the 200 Breaststroke, clocking a 2:15.58. Starcich put together strong swims all weekend long, growing noticeably more confident each time he stepped behind the blocks.
Moments later,
Levi Del Angel delivered another milestone swim, breaking the 200 Butterfly record in 1:54.27—an effort that now places him at the top of the conference in the event.
The speed continued in the 100 Freestyle, where Ben Tercero had a breakthrough performance, touching in 46.77 to set a new school record and dip under the 47-second mark for the first time in his career.
UST closed the meet with a statement performance in the men's 400 Freestyle relay, posting a record-setting 3:09.77. The group ended the invitational with momentum and signaled even faster swims ahead as championship season approaches.
Beyond the record-setting performances, the Celts had several other swimmers step up in the final session.
Ava Verret put together one of her strongest efforts of the season in the 200 Breaststroke, while both
Oliver Spencer and
Tanner McKay delivered impressive swims in the 100 Freestyle.
Oscar Mayorga added a solid performance in the 200 Butterfly, and in the 200 Backstroke,
Lucas Blado and
Jackson Quimby each posted big swims to help close out the weekend.
