HOUSTON, Texas – University of St. Thomas senior guard Corey Thompson has been named to the D3hoops.com Preseason All-America Fourth Team, the national outlet announced Wednesday.

The preseason team is chosen from players who earned All-America honors or All-Region nominations last season. Thompson is one of 25 players nationally on the five-team list.

Thompson was a key piece of one of the best seasons in UST men's basketball history in 2025-26. He started all 30 games and averaged 15.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game, shooting 44.4% from the field and 76.3% from the free-throw line while helping the Celts win both the SCAC regular season and tournament titles. He also averaged 2.0 steals per game and earned SCAC All-First Team and SCAC All-Tournament Team honors.

His defense stood out all season. Thompson was named SCAC Defensive Player of the Week in December after recording seven steals, five rebounds, five assists and 18 points in the Celts' overtime conference-opening win over Colorado College.

Thompson saved some of his best basketball for March. He led St. Thomas with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting in a 75–58 win over Trinity that sent the Celts to the NCAA Division III Sweet 16 for the first time in program history. Before the season even started, he scored 34 points in an exhibition at Division I UTEP, where the Celts fell 84-83 in overtime.

A native of Houston, Thompson played high school basketball at Hightower High School and began his college career at Concordia-Texas, where he earned American Southwest Conference All-Freshman Team honors, before transferring to St. Thomas.
