HOUSTON,TX-- St. Thomas swimming program is diving into its third season with momentum and excitement, ready to build on the growth of its young program and make waves in the SCAC once again.
Meet Schdeule
The 2025-26 season officially kicks off October 4 at the Southwestern Invite in Georgetown, Texas, marking the start of a schedule that features a strong mix of home and away meets. The Celts will host key competitions at home, including a meet with former SCAC opponent Trinity (Oct 18) and a Tri-Meet on October 24-25 giving Celt fans several chances to see the team in action. On the road, UST will take on tough opponents like McMurry University (November 14-15), the Tiger Invite (November 21-23),Austin College ( Dec 13). In 2026, the second half of the season UST will compete aginst Rice (Jan10), and Dual Meets (Jan 17 & Jan 24), and will close out the season at the SCAC Championships (February 10-14) in Garland, Texas.
Leadership
Head coach Hanna Huston's squad returns a strong core of upperclassmen and welcomes an exciting group of newcomers as the program continues its upward climb. Veteran leaders like Oscar Mayorga, Lucas Blado, Valentina Garcia, Kelsey Elgar, and Ava Verret will be key pieces in leading the Celts toward another successful season.
Last year, UST made significant strides in the pool with standout performances on both the men's and women's sides. Oscar Mayorga led the way by qualifying for the A Final in the 200 Butterfly, finishing seventh overall and earning top-scorer honors for the men. On the women's side, Ava Verret set lifetime bests in the 400 IM and 200 Breaststroke, finishing as the team's leading scorer. Additional strong swims came from Charles Wallace and Valentina Garcia in the 100 Freestyle, along with Lucas Blado in the 200 events.
With a deep roster, a mix of experienced returners, and talented newcomers, the Celts are determined to keep raising the bar in their third season. As they dive back into competition, UST Swimming is focused on continued growth, strong performances, and solidifying its place as a rising force in the conference.
