MCMINNVILLE, OR— The St. Thomas women's soccer team dropped a tight 1–0 contest on the road against Linfield University, moving their overall record to 1–1–1 on the season. Both teams fought hard through a fast-paced match, but the Celts were unable to erase the second-half deficit.
The first half was a defensive battle as both teams worked to control the pace of play. Linfield tested the UST defense early with a pair of shots on goal in the opening six minutes, but goalkeeper Mia Coca stood tall in net to keep the game scoreless. Alexia Richard generated the main scoring chance of the half for the Celts in the 23rd minute with a shot on goal, but the attempt was saved as the teams went into halftime tied 0–0.
Linfield broke the deadlock early in the second half when they scored an unassisted goal in the 56th minute (55:35) to take a 1–0 lead. The Celts created multiple chances down the stretch to level the match, including second-half shot attempts from Ashleyh Ruiz and Emma Quintanilla. Quintanilla put a final shot on target in the 89th minute, but the save was made to hold the 1–0 final score.
Linfield held a 15–6 advantage in total shots, while UST recorded two shots on goal. Goalkeeper Mia Coca played all 90 minutes in net for the Celts, finishing with four saves.
