HOUSTON, TX— The St. Thomas women's soccer team fought to a hard-earned 2–2 draw at home against Schreiner University at SaberCats Stadium. The Celts created pressure on offense throughout the night, out shooting Schreiner 15–3 to keep the home crowd engaged. With the result, St. Thomas now holds an overall record of 1–1–2 on the season.
The Celts set an energetic tone early when Valeria Lara struck in the 5th minute (04:30) off a setup from Ashleyh Ruiz to take a quick 1–0 lead. St. Thomas kept up the attack with multiple shots on goal from Valeria Lara and Alicia Chi, forcing early saves from the opposing goalkeeper. Schreiner responded late in the half with a goal off a set piece in the 38th minute (37:58) to tie the match at 1–1 heading into halftime.
St. Thomas regained control early in the second half as Asanah Gordon tested the goalkeeper before setting up the go-ahead score. In the 60th minute (59:38), Alexia Richard found the back of the net off Gordon's assist to push the Celts back in front 2–1. Schreiner managed to respond once more in the 67th minute (66:43) to bring the game even at 2–2. The Celts launched a late offensive press with shots from Emma Quintanilla and Nicole Cruzco, but Schreiner held firm through the final whistle to share the points.
St. Thomas dominated total shot attempts 15–3 while placing 8 shots on goal. Goalkeeper Kylie Soich played all 90 minutes in net for the Celts.
