GEORGETOWN, TX— The St. Thomas women's soccer team dropped a 3–1 decision on the road against Southwestern University at Southwestern Varsity Fields. Despite striking early and firing 19 total shots, the Celts were unable to overcome a three-goal response from the home team. With the result, St. Thomas now holds a 2–4–2 overall record on the season.
The Celts jumped out to a fast start in the opening half. In the 12th minute (11:10), Bre Medina found the back of the net off an assist from Emma Quintanilla to put St. Thomas ahead 1–0. Southwestern answered back quickly, scoring goals in the 16th (15:21) and 20th minute (19:55) to take a 2–1 lead into halftime.
St. Thomas kept up the pressure in the second half, creating multiple scoring opportunities with seven shots. Nicole Cruzco, Bre Medina, and Ashleyh Ruiz each put strikes on target, but Southwestern's defense held firm. The Pirates added an insurance goal on a penalty kick in the 68th minute (67:49) to lock in the 3–1 final.
St. Thomas finished the match with 19 total shots and put 6 on target. Goalkeeper Kylie Soich played all 90 minutes in net for the Celts, recording two saves.
