HOUSTON, Texas — Elijah Emerson of University of St. Thomas, a sophomore from Katy, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets ran Friday, September 18th through Saturday, September 19th.

Emerson continued to build on his breakout start to the season with another impressive showing, this time at the Mountaineer Hill Country Invitational. Racing against a deep and competitive field, the sophomore once again proved he belongs near the front of the pack, delivering a controlled, well-paced effort over the demanding 8K course.

Emerson crossed the line in 4th place overall with a time of 26:03.3, leading the way for a Celts squad that showed serious depth throughout the field. His performance helped power UST to a second-place team finish, as St. Thomas placed an impressive five runners among the top 11 finishers — a testament to the program's growing strength from top to bottom.

The result marks yet another strong outing for Emerson, who has quickly established himself as one of the SCAC's top individual threats through the early portion of the season. With his consistency continuing to pay dividends for the Celts, both he and the program appear to be building real momentum heading into the heart of the schedule.
