HOUSTON, Texas – The University of St. Thomas men's and women's cross country programs have welcomed former Celt
JC Carpio to the coaching staff as an assistant coach.
JC brings firsthand experience as a UST student-athlete, having competed in both cross country and track and field. A native of Pasadena, Texas, and graduate of Dobie High School, JC developed a strong understanding of collegiate distance running during his time at St. Thomas.
"We're excited to have JC as part of our coaching staff," said Head Cross Country Coach
Walt Yarrow. "Having competed here at St. Thomas, he understands our program and what we're working to build. He connects well with our athletes, brings a lot of energy to practice, and has a genuine interest in helping them improve. He's been a great addition to our staff."
JC joins the coaching staff as St. Thomas continues to build on recent success, including a runner-up finish by the men's team at the 2025 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships and an 11th-place finish at the NCAA Division III West Regional Championships.
