HOUSTON, Texas-- Elijah Emerson of University of St. Thomas, a sophomore from Katy, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets ran Friday, October 16th and Saturday, October 17th. It is the fourth time this season he has earned the honor.

Emerson kept his strong season rolling at the DBU Old Glory Gallop in Fort Worth, turning in another standout effort against a large and competitive field. Racing over the 8K course, the sophomore ran with the same poise and consistency that has defined his fall.

He crossed the line in 23:55.5 to place 16th overall, and he was the fastest NCAA Division III runner in the race. Once again, Emerson showed he can hold his own against a wide range of competition while setting the standard among Division III peers.

Emerson's performance paced the Celts as a team, too. He led the University of St. Thomas men to a 14th-place finish out of 43 teams, with the group posting a team average of 25:01.

With his fourth Runner of the Week nod of the year, Emerson continues to establish himself as one of the SCAC's premier distance runners as the Celts head into the final stretch of the season.
