MARSHALL, TX— The St. Thomas women's soccer team earned a convincing 3–1 victory on the road against East Texas Baptist University at Cornish Field. The Celts controlled the tempo and finished their scoring chances to move their overall record to 2–3–2 on the season.
St. Thomas broke through late in the opening half to grab the momentum. In the 42nd minute (41:09), Emma Quintanilla found the back of the net with an unassisted strike to put the Celts ahead 1–0 going into halftime. Goalkeeper Kylie Soich made three saves in the first half to keep the host team off the board.
The Celts kept their foot on the gas in the second half and doubled their lead in the 56th minute (55:11) when Nicole Cruzco scored an unassisted goal to make it 2–0. East Texas Baptist managed to cut the deficit to 2–1 with a goal in the 72nd minute (71:53), but St. Thomas answered right back. In the 86th minute (86:00), Cruzco struck again off a pass from Valeria Lara to secure her second goal of the match and lock in the 3–1 win.
St. Thomas finished with 12 total shots and put 5 on goal during the match. Goalkeepers Kylie Soich and Mia Coca combined in net to secure the victory, recording four total saves on the day.
