HOUSTON, TX —HOUSTON, TX — The University of St. Thomas Men's Cross Country team turned in a big performance at the 50th Rice Invitational, highlighted by Elijah Emerson crossing the line first overall out of the entire field. The Celts battled a loaded lineup that included Rice, Houston Christian, Texas Southern, and Concordia (Tex.), finishing third as a team with a score of 70 in the 5200-meter (3.23 miles)

Emerson stole the show, winning the individual title outright in 16:01.3. He was backed up by a strong top five for the Celts: Micah Hampton (13th, 17:09.6), Christian Lopez (15th, 17:13.0), Wyatt Butts (21st, 17:33.8), and Dominic Arriaga (23rd, 17:36.6), rounding out a dominant top group that powered UST to a third-place team finish.
