UST Defeats LeTourneau On The Road

Longview, TX - The University of St. Thomas' softball team put together a strong all-around performance to defeat LeTourneau University 6–1. With the win, the Celts improve their overall standings to 22-5 and 20-2 in conference play.  The Celts combined early scoring with steady offensive production to build separation and secure the victory.

St. Thomas wasted no time getting on the score board in the first inning. Chloe Bennett singled through the left side to drive in Rebecca Archibald, giving the Celts a 1–0 lead. LeTourneau answered in the bottom half with a solo home run to even the score at 1–1.

The Celts regained the lead in the second inning, capitalizing on defensive miscues. Gigi Rivera advanced to third as Kianah Johnson scored on a throwing error, and Archibald later reached on an error that allowed Rivera to cross the plate, pushing the lead to 3–1.

St. Thomas added another run in the third inning when Ciaira Gonzalez lifted a sacrifice fly to left field, bringing home Bennett to extend the advantage to 4–1.

The Celts continued to build on their lead in the fourth inning as Bennett delivered an RBI double to left-center field, scoring Archibald and making the score 5–1.

St. Thomas added one final run in the fifth inning when Johnson doubled to left field to drive in Olivia Sanchez, sealing the 6–1 victory.

Up Next

The Celts will continue their schedule as they prepare for their double header matchup against the Yellow Jackets Friday, April 3.  The first pitch is scheduled to be thrown at 12PM and the second game will begin at 2PM.
