HOUSTON, Texas – St. Thomas baseball team dropped its conference matchup against Texas Lutheran on Friday night, falling 11–2. With the loss, the Celts move to 3–5 overall and 2–2 in conference as they look to regroup heading into the remainder of the series.
Texas Lutheran struck early, plating two runs in the first inning before adding three more in the third to build a 5–0 advantage.
UST responded in the fourth inning to get on the board. Jace Christian delivered an RBI double to left field, driving in Gage Kimble and cutting into the deficit. The Celts continued to chip away in the fifth when Tyler Mills lifted a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing Aryan Chopra to score and make it 5–2.
UST kept the game within reach through the middle innings, but the Bulldogs pulled away late. Texas Lutheran capitalized on a series of walks in the eighth inning to extend its lead before adding two more runs in the ninth to secure the 11–2 result.
Despite the setback, the Celts showed flashes offensively in the middle innings and will look to carry that momentum into Saturday's games.
