CONWAY, AR- The University of St. Thomas Celts remained on the road for their final match of the weekend, facing conference opponent Hendrix College. Building off their previous performance and continued growth on both ends of the floor, the Celts delivered a dominant showing, to secure a 68–46 victory and extend their winning streak.
The opening minutes featured a defensive battle, with both teams struggling to find an early rhythm. St. Thomas broke through first behind a strong interior finish from
Charles Gitonga, setting the tone for a physical presence in the paint. Defensive pressure from
Reyce Allen and
Corey Thompson helped disrupt Hendrix's offense, forcing turnovers and limiting second chances. After Hendrix briefly gained momentum midway through the half, the Celts responded with a key stretch fueled by transition play. Fast-break finishes from Thompson and
Nathan Kongolo, paired with strong rebounding and interior scoring, allowed UST to regain control. A late spark capped by baskets from Thompson and Allen helped St. Thomas close the half with momentum, taking a 28–25 lead into the break.
UST wasted no time reasserting control after halftime. Defensive stops turned into scoring opportunities, with
Garrett Rodgers and Gitonga capitalizing inside while Thompson knocked down a crucial three-pointer to spark an early run. The Celts' defensive intensity continued to show, forcing turnovers that led to back-to-back fast-break finishes and extended the lead into double digits. Midway through the half, UST put the game out of reach with a decisive point streak highlighted by efficient free-throw shooting, strong offensive rebounding, and perimeter scoring from
Brennan Webb. The Celts stretched their advantage past 20 points and maintained composure down the stretch, closing out the contest with disciplined defense and timely baskets to seal the 68–46 win.
The Celts were led offensively by
Garrett Rodgers, who finished with 14 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting performance.
Corey Thompson followed with 12 points, adding energy on both ends of the floor as he earned six defensive rebounds, while
Brennan Webb chipped in 10 points too.
