UST Athletics Remembers Dr. Jack Follis

HOUSTON, TX-- The University of St. Thomas community and UST Athletics mourns the loss of Dr. Jack Follis, a dedicated educator, alumnus and longtime supporter of UST Athletics who made a lasting impact on students, colleagues and the campus as a whole.

DR FOLLIS

Dr. Follis served as an associate professor in the Mathematics Department, where he taught numerous courses in biostatistics and data analytics. His passion for teaching and mentorship extended beyond the classroom, shaping the academic and professional journeys of countless students.

A proud UST alumnus, Dr. Follis earned his bachelor's degrees in philosophy and mathematics from UST in 1994. He later returned to his alma mater to complete a Master of Liberal Arts in 2002. After earning his doctorate from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Dr. Follis once again came home to UST, where he devoted more than a decade to teaching and service.

Outside of academics, Dr. Follis was a familiar and welcoming presence at Celt athletic events, where he could often be seen supporting the teams from the sidelines. Since 2019, he served as the University's Faculty Athletic Representative, working closely with student-athletes to support their success both inside and outside of the classroom.

Dr. Follis impacted the lives of countless students and colleagues. His dedication to the University of St. Thomas and its student-athletes will be remembered and deeply missed.
