MONTGOMERY, Ala. – St. Thomas volleyball team stayed unbeaten with a 3-1 victory over tournament host Huntingdon on Saturday morning. With the win, the Celts improve to 7-0 on the season after set scores of 25-20, 25-13, 24-26, and 25-11.
In the opening set, UST came out strong behind early kills from Jazilyn Davis and Alexis Bodunrin to set the tone. The Celts kept momentum rolling with points from Ariana Willis and Noor Haydari, while Brooke Barnes and Carly Lange contributed key swings to help push the lead. A late kill from Davis sealed the 25-20 win and a 1-0 match lead.
The Celts continued their control in the second set. Willis and Davis provided the offensive spark early, and a service ace by Jada Stallworth extended the gap. Alexis Eversull's presence at the net helped widen the lead before Bodunrin and Davis combined for multiple kills to put the set out of reach. St. Thomas closed it 25-13 to move ahead 2-0.
Huntingdon answered in the third, but the Celts still fought hard. Mia Medina spread the offense with assists to Willis and Davis, while Lange and Karrington Kays added important kills to keep UST within striking distance. The set went back-and-forth late, and though UST tied it at 23 and 24 with clutch kills, the Hawks held on for a narrow 26-24 win.
St. Thomas responded with authority in the fourth. Willis delivered an ace to spark a 4-0 start, and Bodunrin went on a run with two service aces and a pair of kills to help build a commanding lead. Randall and Stallworth joined in with kills of their own, and Davis capped the match with a kill for a dominant 25-11 finish.
The Celts were paced by Alexis Bodunrin with 13 kills, 12 digs, and three aces, while Ariana Willis and Jazilyn Davis each added 10 kills. Mia Medina dished out 19 assists alongside 16 from Jada Stallworth, and Carly Lange anchored the defense with a match-high 24 digs. At the net, Brooke Barnes tallied three blocks to lead the front row.
