HOUSTON, TX--
Elijah Emerson, a first-year from
Katy, Texas, has been named the
SCAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets held
August 29-30.
In his collegiate debut, Emerson impressed with a seventh-place finish at the Stormy Seas Opener hosted by Southwestern University. He clocked a time of 15:32 in the 5k, standing out as the top Division III competitor in the field.
Emerson's performance came against strong competition, as he finished behind only an unattached runner and five athletes from the University of Texas, marking a statement start to his career with the Celts.
Coach Yarrow praised Emerson's impact both on and off the course:
"Eli's dedication to both competition and practice, along with his positive influence as a teammate, has been great for our program. We are looking forward to his growth as a collegiate athlete!"
The first-year runner's effort not only highlighted his individual talent but also set a positive tone for the UST men's cross country team as they begin the 2025 season.
