UST WSOC Secure First Conference Win 2-1

KERRVILLE, TX – The University of St. Thomas Women's Soccer team opened SCAC conference play on the road against Schreiner University and delivered a thrilling comeback victory. The Celts battled to secure a 2-1 win, extending their winning streak and improving their season record to 4-1-2.

UST set the tone early as Emma Cerda fired the opening shot, putting pressure on the Mountaineers' defense. Schreiner, however, responded and found a scoring opportunity, to take a 1-0 lead in the first half. Despite their efforts, the Celts entered halftime trailing by one.

Coming out of the break, UST regrouped and found their rhythm. In the 48th minute, Ashlee Stoltje broke through the defense and found the back of the net, assisted by Cerda. Feeding off the momentum, the Celts continued to attack, and just ten minutes later, Fernanda Alvarado struck a goal, again with Cerda providing the well placed setup— earning her second assist of the game. UST managed to defend their end and lock down the Mountaineers for the remainder of the match, UST sealed the 2-1 comeback win to lead off their conference play with a strong start.
