St. Thomas Push Through Singles and Doubles

BELTON, TX – The University of St. Thomas Men's Tennis team carried momentum into the second day of the Crusader Invitational on September 19, competing across several singles and doubles lines.

In Line C singles, Raja Pandya earned a gritty 6-7(1), 6-0, 10-6 win over UMHB before falling to Southwestern. He will compete for third place.

On Line D, Sawyer White fell in his opener against UMHB's Alec Rule and later dropped a close consolation match to LeTourneau, but he finished the day with a win to close out his draw.

Line E saw strong results from Wilson Salazar Jr., who posted back-to-back wins, 6-3, 6-2 over UMHB and 6-4, 7-5 over ETBU, to advance into the finals of his bracket.

Line F included both Gavin Simpson and Ricardo Moolchan. Simpson opened with a 4-6, 6-4, 10-5 win over TLU before falling in the next round, setting up a third-place matchup against his teammate. Moolchan advanced past Concordia 6-2, 7-5 before falling to Southwestern, landing in the same third-place match as Simpson.

In Line G, Michael Haranczyk advanced past McMurry 2-6, 7-6(2), 10-6 after a first-round bye. He moves into the finals of his bracket.

Line H featured Andres Mora, who dropped his opening match against Concordia but bounced back in the consolation bracket, advancing on a bye before winning out for the consolation title.

On Line N, Ruben Reyes fell to ETBU in the opening round but stormed through the consolation side, winning two straight matches to reach the finals.

In doubles action, White and Salazar Jr. fell to LeTourneau 8-5 in Line C, finishing in the third-place match. Pandya and Haranczyk fought their way through the Line D consolation draw, defeating Schreiner 8-7(3) to reach the final. Simpson and Mora also advanced in Line E with an 8-6 victory over LeTourneau, moving into the finals of their bracket.
