HOUSTON,TX-- NATHAN KONGOLO OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS (TEX.), a sophomore guard from Houston, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, December 1 through Sunday, December 7.

Kongolo delivered a commanding defensive showing in a 66-53 win over No. 15 Trinity, helping the Celts hold the Tigers to their lowest point total of the season. Playing all but one minute, he recorded four steals, one block, and did not commit a turnover, while also collecting four rebounds and three assists. Offensively, he contributed 15 points on 50 percent shooting to support the victory. The Celts forced Trinity into its second-highest turnover total of the season and limited the Tigers on the boards.

Kongolo has continued to elevate his game at St. Thomas after being named to the SCAC All-Freshman team last season, emerging as a key piece on both ends of the floor.

The Celts turn their attention to conference play as they travel to Colorado on December 13 to face Colorado College.
