UST Defeats Huston-Tillotson

HOUSTON, TX-- UST Women's Basketball rolled past Huston-Tillotson with a 71-55 victory, improving to 4-1 on the season. This matchup marked the first meeting between the programs since UST's NAIA days, with their last contest dating back to 2019.

The Celts came out firing in the first quarter, attacking the lane and knocking down early shots. Layups from Amyia Bowie and Macie Whitfield, followed by a three-pointer from Kameron Goodman, helped UST take a strong 20-11 lead.

In the second quarter, the Celts continued their momentum from beyond the arc. Goodman buried another three, followed by one from Olivia Shook. The Rams responded with a burst of defensive pressure, converting turnovers into points to make it 28-20. UST settled back in with layups from Nora Aigberadion and Whitfield to rebuild the lead. The Celts headed into halftime up 41-28.

The third quarter mirrored the energy of the first as UST once again came out sharp. A mix of layups, jumpers, and timely free throws expanded the lead. Three-pointers from Goodman, Yasmine Aly, and Whitfield pushed the advantage to 58-35 going into the final period.

Huston-Tillotson continued to challenge in the fourth, increasing their intensity and drawing a technical foul that awarded UST four free throws—all converted by Goodman. Shortly after, Shook knocked down another three to stretch the lead to 67-40. While the Rams continued to compete, applying pressure until the final minutes, the Celts remained composed and closed out the 71-55 win.

Macie Whitfield delivered a strong performance with 15 points and 11 rebounds on 7-of-12 shooting. Amyia Bowie added 13 points, shooting 3-of-6 from the field while going a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line, along with seven rebounds and six assists. Off the bench, Kameron Goodman made a major impact with a game-high 18 points on 5-of-10 shooting, knocking down 4-of-6 from deep and 4-of-4 at the line, while also grabbing six rebounds and dishing out two assists.
