Celts Fall to Concordia in Four Sets

HOUSTON, TX — The University of St. Thomas Volleyball team wrapped up its regular season with a 1-3 loss to Concordia (TX), falling by set scores of 23-25, 17-25, 25-18, and 24-26. With the result, the Celts move to 23-5 overall and 13-3 in conference.

The Tornadoes opened the match strong, jumping out to a commanding 18-4 lead in the first set. Despite a late surge from UST, Concordia held on to claim the opener. The second set saw a more competitive start as the Celts fought to a 7-7 tie before Concordia went on a 9-3 run to pull away and secure a two-set advantage.

In the third, UST showed their trademark resilience. After trailing 15-9, a spark from Ariana Willis fueled a massive 10-1 run that flipped the momentum. The Celts fed off the energy to close the set 25-18 and stay alive. The fourth set turned into a thriller, with UST and Concordia trading points late. Kills from Willis and Alexis Bodunrin gave the Celts a brief 21-18 edge, but Concordia rallied once more to steal the set and the match.

Willis led the attack with 20 kills, followed by Bodunrin with 13 and Jazilyn Davis with 9. Carly Lange anchored the defense with an impressive 37 digs, while Jada Stallworth and Mia Medina combined for 42 assists.
