Celts Surpass Goal in Record-Breaking Athletics Giving Week

HOUSTON, TX – Athletics Giving Week 2025 proved to be another milestone moment for the University of St. Thomas, as the Celt community came together in full force to support UST's student-athletes. Running from October 6–10, this year's campaign exceeded all expectations—surpassing the goal of 350 donors with more than 500 contributors, reaching 153% of the target and raising over $60,000 in total gifts.

The week-long initiative showcased the generosity and commitment of alumni, families, and fans who continue to invest in the growth of UST Athletics. Every donation made goes directly to the athletic programs, giving each team the ability to meet its specific needs, from upgraded equipment and enhanced travel support to recruiting efforts and player development.

Last year's Giving Week allowed for major facility renovations, including improvements to the lobby, offices, locker rooms, and training room. Those upgrades have already elevated the student-athlete experience, and this year's record-breaking results will allow the department to continue building on that foundation.

Athletics Director Todd Smith expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support. "The outpouring of donor support this week was truly overwhelming and a clear reflection of the momentum UST Athletics has built over the past few years," Smith said. "Every dollar raised will go directly to our teams and help provide a first-class experience for our student-athletes. I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed to or supported this campaign—it was a true team effort."

Beyond the numbers, Athletics Giving Week served as a reminder of what makes the Celt community special—a shared pride and belief in the mission of developing champions in the classroom, in competition, and in character. Thanks to this year's generosity, UST Athletics will continue to provide its student-athletes with the resources, opportunities, and support they need to reach new heights.
