Box Score HOUSTON, TX— UST women's soccer team dropped a tight 1-0 contest at home against Texas A&M-Victoria at SaberCats Stadium. Both teams fought hard through a defensive battle, but a second-half goal made the difference for the visiting side. With the result, the Celts now hold a 1–3–2 overall record on the season.
The first half was a back-and-forth physical battle as both defenses held firm to keep the game scoreless. Goalkeeper Kylie Soich made three key saves in the opening 45 minutes to protect the net for St. Thomas. Valeria Lara and Jaida Rodea created scoring chances for the Celts with early shot attempts, but neither side could find the back of the net before halftime.
Texas A&M-Victoria broke the tie early in the second half, scoring an unassisted goal in the 58th minute (57:30) to take a 1–0 lead. The Celts pushed hard for an answer late in the game, generating pressure off set pieces and creating opportunities in the attack. Bre Medina put a strong shot on target in the 70th minute, but the attempt was saved as the visitors held on for the 1–0 final.
St. Thomas recorded seven total shots during the match. Goalkeeper Kylie Soich played all 90 minutes in net for the Celts, finishing with five saves in a solid performance.
