UST Athletics Celebrates Outstanding Student-Athletes at 2025-26 Sports Banquet

HOUSTON – University of St. Thomas Athletics honored the achievements of its student-athletes, coaches and supporters during the annual All-Sports Banquet held on Tuesday, April 28, recognizing excellence throughout the 2025-26 academic year.

The evening celebrated the accomplishments of Celts student-athletes both in competition and in the classroom, while also highlighting the leadership, resilience and character that define the University's athletic programs.

Among the major honors presented during the banquet were the Celt Award, Champions of Character Award, Scholar-Athlete Award, Special Thanks Award, Comeback Student-Athlete of the Year Award and each program's Most Valuable Player Award.

Celt Award Recipients

The Celt Award recognizes student-athletes who embody the department's "Win Today" philosophy — a commitment to giving one's best effort in every practice, class and daily interaction. The award honors those who demonstrate exceptional sportsmanship, dedication and a selfless commitment to their teammates and programs.

This year's Celt Award recipients were:

  • Volleyball – Mia Medina

  • Women's Golf – Regina Garcia Perez
  • Men's Track & Field – Joshua Martinez
  • Women's Track & Field – Madison Walker
  • Men's Tennis – Wilson Salazar Jr.

  • Softball – Samantha Crumrin
  • Baseball – Brady Duque

Champions of Character Award

Graduate baseball student-athlete Sam Lampson was named the Male Champions of Character recipient, while senior softball student-athlete Maegan Anderson earned the Female Champions of Character Award.

Scholar-Athlete Award Recipients

The Scholar-Athlete Award honors the student-athletes with the highest cumulative GPA on each team who have completed at least three semesters at the University.

This year's Scholar-Athlete Award recipients were:

Special Thanks Award

Special Thanks Awards were presented to Victoria Argueta, Trinity Provost, Cooper Sports Network, Jejuan French and Laurisa Rieke.

Comeback Student-Athlete of the Year

Junior women's golfer Emma Koch was named the Female Comeback Student-Athlete of the Year, while Joshua Martinez earned the Male Comeback Student-Athlete of the Year Award.

Most Valuable Player Award Recipients

The MVP Awards recognized the student-athletes whose leadership and performance were instrumental to their teams' success.

This year's MVP Award recipients were:

The annual banquet celebrated the outstanding accomplishments of University of St. Thomas Athletics student-athletes and the continued commitment to excellence in competition, academics and service.
