Huntsville, Texas – The St. Thomas baseball team battled in a pair of close games but came up just short, falling 7–6 and 5–4 to Schreiner. With the two narrow losses, the Celts moved to an overall record of 8-16 and 7-11 in conference play.
Game 1: Schreiner 7, UST 6
Schreiner opened with a lead, scoring in the first inning with an RBI double, but the Celts answered immediately as Gage Kimble launched a solo home run to even the game at 1–1.
The Mountaineers regained the lead in the third inning, capitalizing on unearned runs to build a 3–1 advantage. In the fourth inning, the Celts cut into the deficit when Eduardo Tamez singled to bring home Gabe Garner, making the score 3–2.
Schreiner extended its lead in the sixth inning, taking advantage of a passed ball and a series of hits to push the score to 6–2. The Celts responded in the bottom half of the inning as Tamez delivered again with an RBI double to score Aryan Chopra, extending the deficit to 6–3.
After Schreiner added an unearned run in the seventh to go ahead 7–3, St. Thomas mounted a strong rally. Sam Lampson reached on an error that allowed Gage Kimble to score before Gabe Garner came through with a two-RBI single to center field, bringing the Celts within 7–6.
With momentum on their side, St. Thomas threatened to complete the comeback, but Schreiner held on to secure the narrow victory.

Schreiner opened the scoring in the second inning with an RBI single before adding another run in the sixth to take a 2–0 lead.
The Celts responded in the bottom of the sixth inning to even the game. Chris Johnson doubled to right field to drive in Gage Kimble, and Sam Lampson followed with a sacrifice fly to bring home Gage Gustafson, tying the score at 2–2.
Schreiner regained the lead in the seventh inning, but St. Thomas answered once again. Tyler Mills delivered an RBI single to center field to score Eduardo Tamez, making the score 3–3.
The Mountaineers pulled ahead in the eighth inning with two runs to take a 5–3 advantage. St. Thomas made one final push in the ninth inning as Lampson doubled to left field to score Kimble and cut the deficit to 5–4, but the rally came up just short.
